What Kids Learned at Our Spring Camp - (Day 5)
Today at AI Camp, the kids explored the theme “GlobeTrotter.” We started by using Google Earth and ChatGPT to create travel plans to different countries around the world. Each student selected a country and used AI tools to research three interesting places to visit and three fun facts about each location. This activity helped them practice digital research skills while learning about geography and different cultures.
Next, we watched an example of an AI program that learns by itself to play a video game. The kids saw how artificial intelligence can improve over time through practice and learning, and how programmers can train machines to perform tasks better over time.
After that, the students participated in a Geo Challenge. Using AI as a research assistant, they found helpful information and travel tips for first-time travelers visiting the countries they had chosen.
At the end of the day, we worked with Scratch to start designing a “Trivia Time” video game. The students used AI to help them understand the code and guide them in building their game. This activity introduced them to the basics of programming and showed how AI can support learning and creativity in coding.
Overall, it was a fun and engaging day combining geography, artificial intelligence, and game design while encouraging curiosity and problem-solving.
