What Kids Learned at Our Spring Camp - (Day 8)
Designing a Park in Minecraft: Exploring Space and Systems.
In today’s camp session, students worked on a park-themed design project in Minecraft, focusing on how to create a space that is both engaging and functional.
Rather than only building for appearance, students were encouraged to think about layout, flow, and how different areas connect within a park. They also explored simple logic components such as buttons, levers, and basic redstone systems to make parts of their designs interactive.
As they developed their ideas, students tested their builds, observed how different elements worked together, and made adjustments to improve both usability and design. This process helped them move beyond simple construction toward more thoughtful planning.
Through this activity, students strengthened their creativity, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills, while gaining an introduction to design thinking and basic systems concepts in an engaging, hands-on way.
