Ocean Science & Underwater Robot Camp Vancouver
Global Habitats & Ocean Robots
Date: July 6 - July 10
A Marine Science and ROV Engineering Camp for Kids Ages 6–12 in Vancouver
+ Early Exposure to Coding and Robotics
+ Hands-On Learning
+ STEAM Education Enhancement
+ Real-World Problem Solving
-
Children explore the coral reef habitat, learn about robot building materials, brainstorm their ROV mission, and sketch their first mission course map
-
The deep sea habitat is explored, teams finalize their ROV design sketch, and begin drafting their mission poster.
-
Children study the Arctic ocean habitat, then start the physical ROV build — constructing the body, waterproofing joints, adding motors, and running buoyancy tests.
-
The focus shifts to ocean conservation, and the ROV is put through full mission run testing — identifying bugs and making improvements before the showcase.
-
Mission Showcase Day — children complete final testing, present their conservation showcase posters, and celebrate with a Certificate Ceremony.
About the Activities
The ocean covers more than 70% of our planet — and much of it remains unexplored. Real scientists use remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to go where humans can't. This week, your child builds one.
Our ocean science camp in Vancouver combines marine science with hands-on engineering. Children explore three ocean habitats — coral reef, deep sea, and Arctic — through immersive habitat stations, learning about the creatures that live there, the threats they face, and the real conservation technology scientists use to protect them.
Then the ROV building begins. Teams design their underwater robot from scratch — sketching mission course maps with waypoints, constructing the body and waterproof joints, adding motors and buoyancy systems — and put the whole thing through field testing before a Mission Showcase on Friday.
This marine science camp near Vancouver is the kind of week where children look up from their build table and realize: this is what real engineers do.
What children develop: Marine science literacy · Engineering design · Buoyancy and physics · Conservation awareness · Teamwork · Presentation skills
