Scratch Coding & AI Literacy Camp Vancouver
Date: August 4 - August 8
A Beginner-Friendly Coding Camp Where Kids Build With Scratch and Explore How AI Really Works
+ Early Exposure to Coding and Robotics
+ Hands-On Learning
+ STEAM Education Enhancement
+ Real-World Problem Solving
-
Children discover what AI can and can't do through hands-on prompt testing, develop their project concept idea, and begin an AI observation log.
-
Teams learn prompt engineering, use AI to help write a concept brief, complete a Scratch crash course, and start building their project.
-
A full Scratch build day with AI-assisted coding — children test, debug, and peer-review each other's code throughout the session.
-
Final build and polish, classmate playtesting, more debugging, and a Human-AI story writing exercise that explores the creative relationship between people and AI.
-
Inventor's Showcase — children present their completed Scratch project, take part in an AI Ethics Debate, and receive their Certificate of Completion.
About the Activities
Our Scratch coding camp in Vancouver is where coding meets curiosity — and AI becomes a real creative tool, not just a topic to learn about. Children spend the week building their own Scratch project while learning to work with AI: testing prompts, using AI to develop concept briefs, coding with AI assistance, and reflecting on what the human brings that AI can't replace.
This beginner coding camp for children in BC covers the full creative cycle — from idea to working project. By Friday, they're not just coders. They're inventors — with a working Scratch project, a presentation, and a genuine opinion on when AI helps and when it falls short.
The week closes with an Inventor's Showcase, a Certificate Ceremony, and an AI Ethics Debate that challenges children to think critically about the tools they just used. This is a creative coding camp for curious kids who want to make something — and ask the harder questions about it too.
What children develop: Scratch coding · AI prompt engineering · Creative project ownership · Debugging and testing · Critical thinking about technology · Public presentation
